The inscription "POST TENEBRAS LUX" (After the darkness, light) ist the motto adopted by Geneva after the Reformation.
There are ten statues; the four large ones at the centre represent the main figures of the Reformation in Geneva: from left to right, Guilaaumne Farel, John Calvin, Théodore de Bèze and John Knox.
The six smaller ones and the reliefs evoke the ptrincipal actors and events that marked the spread of the Geneva Reformation throughout Europe and America.
